AIGazeXR

AI-Enhanced Eye Tracking and Gaze Interaction in Extended Reality

25–27 January 2027 · Exact workshop day to be confirmed

01 / The workshop

Why AIGazeXR?

Eye tracking is becoming central to XR interaction, from gaze selection and adaptive interfaces to foveated rendering and accessibility. AI can make gaze data more reliable, interpretable, and responsive to the people using it.

AIGazeXR examines the entire gaze-interaction loop: estimation and signal processing, gaze understanding and prediction, intelligent interaction, and evaluation. We welcome work that shows how learning-based methods improve the reliability, adaptability, usability, or human impact of gaze-enabled XR systems.

The workshop brings together researchers in eye tracking, machine learning, computer vision, XR interaction, multimodal interfaces, and HCI. Its aim is to connect algorithmic progress with the outcomes it enables in interactive systems.

Submissions

Submissions and reviews will use the IEEE AIxVR 2027 EasyChair workshop track. The dedicated link will appear here after the conference creates it.

We welcome research papers and short or position papers that advance AI-enhanced eye tracking and gaze interaction in XR.

Research papers4–6 pages

Completed or substantially developed work.

Short / position papers2–4 pages

Work in progress, emerging ideas, systems, datasets, methods, and research positions.

Preparing your paper

  • Use the IEEE double-column conference manuscript format. Page limits exclude references.
  • Prepare an anonymous manuscript for double-blind review.
  • Submit original work that is not simultaneously under review elsewhere.
  • Follow IEEE policies on plagiarism, AI-generated content, human-subject studies, and research ethics.

Each paper considered for the proceedings will receive at least two substantive expert reviews. Invited and organizer-authored papers are subject to the same review standard and conflict-of-interest safeguards.

Proceedings

Workshop proceedings will be included in the conference proceedings, which will be submitted for publication by IEEE Computer Society Press and submitted for inclusion in the IEEE Xplore Digital Library.

05 / Participation

Workshop format

AIGazeXR is planned as an in-person, approximately three-hour workshop within the AIxVR 2027 conference program.

We plan to combine peer-reviewed research presentations and short talks with a structured panel and small-group discussion. The discussions will connect advances in gaze sensing and modeling to interaction benefit, adaptation across users and devices, and appropriate user control in intelligent interfaces.

The exact day, duration, and program will be confirmed after the conference assigns the workshop slot. Authors who cannot travel may be able to present remotely under the conference’s participation policy; details will follow the final conference guidance.
